Eating disorders
Anorexia, Bulimia and Binge Eating are thought to be ways of managing intense feelings about yourself.
Some of these feelings might be;
- Not liking the way you look
- Hating yourself
- Wanting to have more control over your life
- Anxiety
- Wanting to avoid painful feelings/thoughts/memories or numbness.
There are services that specialise in dealing with these issues. You should speak to a trusted adult or a professional to get help.
Anxiety means feeling nervous and worried.
Who could you tell?
Your parents, another relative like an aunt, uncle or grandparent, a teacher, the school nurse, the school welfare officer, a service like SACL: 1800 806 292 or Kids Help Line: 1800 55 1800, a friend’s parents, your doctor.
