What are: incest, rape?
What is incest?
Incest is when penetration takes place between family members. Under law this means parents, children, stepparents, brothers, sisters, stepbrothers and stepsisters, and grandparents.
If there is no penetration, then this is called indecent assault.
Incest is against the law, even if the people involved are both over 18 and agree to do it.
What is rape?
Rape is when someone forces another person into sex (anal or vaginal), without that person’s consent. Rape is about power and control. The victim is forced to have sex without their consent.
Rape is against the law.
