Emergency contraception
Also known as the morning after pill, this can be taken within 72 hours (3 days) of a sexual assault happening. This pill stops a woman from becoming pregnant. The sooner the morning after pill is taken, the more effective it is. If more than 3 days have passed, check with your doctor or pharmacist if it’s still possible for you to take it.
A doctor usually prescribes emergency contraception. If you can’t get to a doctor within 3 days you could get it from the Chemist. The Pharmacist at the Chemist will need to ask you for information before prescribing it.
